Elements #1 and Elements #2 form a diptych. They are part of a series of works exploring the theme of impermanence. The works use reclaimed, partly decayed materials, sometimes juxtaposed with newer synthetic materials. I’m interested in the effects of time and natural forces on human-made structures and materials.

Elements #1 uses rusted steel from the blade of a discarded shovel, and old jute that was once garden twine. The frame is handcrafted from reclaimed hardwood by artist Steve Innes.
